that results in the resident\u2019s attainment of competencies in the management of comprehensive orthotic and prosthetic patient care.\u00a0 It is NCOPE&#8217;s fundamental belief that residency is the second half of orthotist \/ prosthetist&#8217;s education providing real-world experiences to complete the lessons learned during their schooling.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_toggle title=&#8221;Supervised Clinical Experience&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Supervised Clinical Experience&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>A clinical experience is a requirement for all CAAHEP accredited O&amp;P Assistant, Pedorthist, and Orthotist\/Prosthetist education programs.\u00a0 During the clinical experience students must gain exposure to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Patient assessment.<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of an orthotic, prosthetic or pedorthic treatment plan. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Follow-up assessment and continued implementation of an orthotic, prosthetic or pedorthic treatment plan.<\/li>\n<li>Documentation of patient encounters for clinical decision making, communication, legal and reimbursement purposes.<\/li>\n<li>Communication among practitioners, patients, caregivers, and others.<\/li>\n<li>Business functions within the provision of orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic
